ART OF WAR INSTRUCTORS:

Jason Georgianna

Jason teaches the Mixed Martial Arts, Grappling, and Boxing classes and is the head coach and conditioning coach of the Art of War competition team.  He also does personal fitness training for weight loss, general health, and sports performance.  

Jason is an experienced professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter with 24 career bouts and a 15-8-1 combined pro-am record.  He has also been a Mixed Martial Arts coach for 12 years. His bouts have been aired on Comcast Sportsnet and he has faced some of the worlds best fighters, including UFC vets Joe Benevides, Michael MacDonald, and Ian Loveland.  His grappling honors include AAU Northern California No-Gi  Jiu Jitsu champion, DFCC grappling tourney no-gi champion, and 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Purple Belt.  He has been training for 16 years, and has studied under several excellent coaches during that time including: Rickson Gracie Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt  Paul Grilley, National Collegiate Wrestling Champion Matt Paulsen, Pedro Sauer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Allan Manganello, Eddie Bravo 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Gerald Strebendt, USA Olympic Boxing Coach Andy Mincer, Muay Thai Kru Thongsay Sanhtytham, and MMA Veteran Olaf Alfonso.  Jason also has an MA in Physical Education and has been a fitness trainer for 10 years, interning under nationally recognized sports conditioning coach Aaron Shelley PhD.  Jason has trained numerous amateur and professional MMA fighters of all levels, including UFC fighters. 

 

Kru Thongsay Sanhtytham

Thongsay, aka “Kobb”,  teaches the gym’s Muay Thai Kickboxing classes and is the Art of War competition team Muay Thai coach.  He has been practicing Muay Thai since childhood, has experience competing in Muay Thai, and has 18 years of coaching experience.  He has been awarded “Kru” status, the Muay Thai equivalent of a black belt.  Training with Kobb you will always get a great cardio workout and benefit from his enthusiasm, expertise, and positive energy.  

 

Brian Shiller

Brian is the wrestling coach at Art of War, having honed his skills as a junior college all american wrestler at Clackamas Community College.  Brian also has 18 years of coaching experience, having worked with high school and collegiate wrestlers as well as MMA fighters.  Brian excels at teaching the fundamentals of takedowns and top control and he knows how to communicate the details that are so important to correctly applying the techniques as well as how wrestling applies to Mixed Martial Arts.

 

Brent Alvarez

Brent began his martial arts training in Krav Maga, then transitioned to Bas Rutten's MMA system.  Brent has 6 years of training in Rutten's system, and has had 8 amateur MMA fights.  Brent also has 5 years of training in 10th Planet Jujitsu and was recently awarded his purple belt by Eddie Bravo.  Brent teaches the Jujitsu classes.  Brent's grapppling honors include a 1st place finish in the advanced division of the prestigious NAGA grappling tournament in May 2011, a 4th place finish in March 2011, and a 2nd place finish at the Grapplers Quest tournament 2010 in Las Vegas.  

 

Brian Dunn

 Brian has an AAS in Exercise and Movement Science from Lane Community College and is nationally certified as a Health Fitness Specialist by The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).   Brian teaches various fitness classes, women’s and kid’s boxing, strength and conditioning, sport specific training, and personal training.

As a certified coach by USA Wrestling, Brian has over 15 years experience as a wrestling coach, coaching kids and high school athletes. He currently manages a local kids wrestling club and coaches at Sheldon High school.  Prior to that, Brian coached at Creswell High School. 

 

Justin Reinhart

Justin is an experienced MMA fighter with a combined pro-am record of 11-1.  Justin has also been an instructor at Spencer Fishers academy as well as head instructor at his brother Jason's Reinhart Mixed Martial Arts Academy, a Miletich Fighting Systems affiliate.  Justin also holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and was the 2004 gold medalist in his weight class at the Arnolds Gracie World championships. 

 

Chad Nelson

Chad's 8-4-1 combined pro-am record in MMA is only a part of his experience.  Prior to that, he had several years of kickboxing training and 8 kickboxing bouts.  Chad holds MMA victories over UFC fighter John Gunderson and WEC veteran Anthony Hamlett and is one of the most experienced fighters trained by Marcus Lewis.
